Add water and tada! Gorgeous!

I absolutely love the sentiments and images in the Picture Perfect stamp set! It is a technique stamp set-- you are supposed to do two or three step stamping with different colors to layer the images! Now, I will say that I don't find it to be that forgiving of a technique-- if you don't line it up just so it doesn't look at that great to me... But.... Add water and tada! Gorgeous! My daughter loved making this hummingbird. Basically you stamp the image (I used Lost Lagoon, Tip Top Taupe, and Watermelon Wonder) and then use a spritzer to spray the wings out with water... All on watercolor paper, of course. Now the flower took a bit more playing around... But I ended up liking Calypso Coral, Melon Mambo, and Watermelon Wonder. And my pattern was to spritz the first layer on your stamp before you stamp it on the paper, then stamp the next two layers. Add a few flicks of Watermelon Wonder and some Wink of Stella Clear and you have a gorgeous flower! The final image from this stamp set was the starfish and I just heat embossed the "darker" of the two stamps with gold and then once that cooled off I spritzed the paper and did a wash of Lost Lagoon on the watercolor paper. Nice right? And our new black archival ink stamped clean on the watercolor paper for the sentiment. Plus, this ribbon is luscious! Hope you enjoyed the cards! Convention was awesome! But who knew that one of the highlights would be a private class afterwards by Dee Tollaksen and Barbara Pisciotto on Bible Art Journaling and how to host a class on this cool topic! I have wanted a way to dive back into the Bible and have tried a few different creative devotional activities but the concept of painting and drawing inside my Bible was foreign to me! I bought the recommended Journaling Bible and took it with me but was afraid to touch it (and mess it up)... Their session gave me the permission to dive in, express my faith, read and understand the word better, and tap into my creative side! So below is my first attempt-- using a mask, sponge dauber, and ink mixed with white craft ink! Add a journaling pen and done! This was the kit we received at the class and it had everything we needed to get started plus continue to inspire us! We got a PL journaling pen, 2 rolls of Washi tape, ink refill, craft white ink refill, candy dots, PL journaling cards, pencil, and a spritzer. The "gift card" was used to push paint around the pages-- so cool!! I love this verse and it was so nice for them to give us this gorgeous book mark! I look forward to using this as inspiration for making my pages around this verse... This cute little flash card set will come in handy for writing down verses to memorize! Additionally, I think it would make a cute "study break" activity for Cougar Countdown during final exam period for the college students! This was the cute bag for our treats! This was one of Dee's pages... This was one of Barbara's pages... And his was one of Dana's pages-- a guest presenter... What a wonderful class! I felt my bucket filling the whole time and I came back with personal passion and a concept for a class I could host... Happy crafting, Melissa An organized swap is one where you are assigned a stamp set and then you make several designs from the set (in our group usually 3-4) and then Times the number of people. This week we had 10 members of our group participating in a new catalog swap and I selected the Sheltering Tree stamp set and decided to tackle all four seasons!! The first one that I did was to stick to the new in-colors in a spring inspired card! I used Watermelon Wonder on the leaves, Tip Top Taupe for the tree and swing, Cucumber Crush for grass, Delightful Dijon for the flowers, and Mint Macaroon for the butterfly! The window is cut out with the Project Life framelits! Summer was heralded in with this canopy view! I really love the lettering embossed in gold from the Tin of Cards stamp set! The sun is from the Eclectic set and the hardwood stamp provides a nice backdrop! Now my winter card is a special technique called crayon resist. You use photo paper and Memento Ink to stamp the tree. Then use a white crayon to draw the snow on the tree and then use Lost Lagoon on a sponge to color the background! Now where did fall go? I always struggle with one card in a four card swap. I really struggled with the layout as they all seemed tired. So I made a 3D cracker gift with a small tag that used the stamp set in a fall motif. But I forgot to take pictures!! Oh well! But hopefully you understand what a swap is now and I can't wait to post what my friends have created soon! Why don't you join my team? Then we can swap!!!! There's a great join promotion going on right now where you can get TWO free stamp sets through the end of June!!!! Ask me about this! Happy crafting, Melissa A few weeks ago was Teacher Appreciation Week at Marianne's school! Thankfully they had the whole week planned out for us... The first day was a thank you note and we used this past month's Paper Pumpkin kit! Day 2 was "bring a flower from your garden"! We don't have a garden anymore since we moved to an apartment so I thought making these cupcake liner pencils were a great alternative project! I was happy to use SU! washi tape on the pencils! Washi tape is tough for me to use (confession) as I just don't instinctually gravitate toward it... Day 3 was to bring a drawing in and Marianne made this cute one on my phone! Day 4 was a "healthy treat" and I'm sure dark chocolate blueberries count, right? The last day was a present so I made some boxes from leftover Sale-a-bration paper which fit the apple notepads great!! Hopefully her teachers loved everything and I know I had fun using all my Stampin' Up! supplies to make them!! Happy crafting, Melissa This group is giving away 15 prizes of $675 worth of card making supplies from various vendors, including Stampin' Up! Fair warning though-- not everything used in these cards are Stampin' Up! product but that's ok for this contest... They have five categories to enter in-- my first one is in the "hello" category: This thank you card uses the Dahlia from Regarding Dahlia stamp set! Gumball Green embossed "love" card made with Envelope Punch Board! Happy Birthday card made with Bloom with Hope stamp set! And finally, Christmas card made with Seasonally Scattered and Lost Lagoon-- my favorite color!! Hope these inspire you!! Happy crafting, Melissa P.S.
